How Does it Work?

Most individuals sitting in office chairs assume poor posture resulting in flattening of the lumbar spine and altered head carriage.  Over time this can lead to chronic lower back pain, weak abdominal muscles, and neck problems that often times lead to headaches.

The special design of the ErgoChair and the flexible air filled material of the seat enable individuals to support themselves in the best sitting position to relieve and prevent back pain. By using the abdominal muscles to tilt the pelvis, the lumbar spine is flexed and extended until the balanced position of optimal function and stability is reached.  The muscles are then contracted in order to hold the position.  This helps the individual to develop the kinesthetic awareness of their neutral position.  Eventually this will become a natural position to attain. The individual is actively in control.

The ergochair armrest  is  26 3/4" high (the altitudenally challenged can remove a couple of inches by not using the wheels and putting the chair on a small piece of carpet or rug).  The height of sitting has a bit of adjustment based on how hard you pump it up.  The armrest is 23 1/2" wide at the widest point in the front.  I sit about 19" from the floor with mine.

A very high quality product at a fraction of the price of some ergonomic chairs that aren't as healthy as this one.  The tubing of this chair is steel with heavy duty bolts.  The frame is strong.  The egg is high strength material with a very high burst rating.  Don't confuse it with cheap plastic products.  Please keep in mind that this chair provides exercise while you are merely sitting.  This is very beneficial for your back but may not be comfortable initially.  It takes some getting used to as it is exercising muscles that you probably forgot you had.  It is a health chair and posture chair, not an "instant comfort" chair (until you get used to it)

This product is designed for individuals with "average" height and weight. The front opening of this chair is a full 20 inches wide at the front widest point.  This chair is only available in one size that will accommodate most people.  However, a lot of height and weight adjustment can be obtained simply by changing the amount of air in the egg.   

Keep in mind that by using certain credit cards you can get an extra year warranty (this, of course, is totally  between you and your credit card company).
